CONSECRATED LIFE FOR A TRANSFORMED WORLD: Catholic, Ecumenical, and Interreligious Perspectives in a Globalizing Era

Dharmaram Psycho-Spiritual Studies: 1
CONSECRATED LIFE FOR A TRANSFORMED WORLD
Catholic, Ecumenical, and Interreligious Perspectives in a Globalizing Era
Saju Chackalackal, Editor
As we experience profound and lasting changes in the arena of ecclesial and social life, affecting both the form and the content of consecrated life, it is perceived that consecrated life lived in the Church is in need of a new language, a new way of seeing things, and a new style of functioning so that it would become more intelligible, practical, integral, and wholesome. Hence, Consecrated Life for a Transformed World: Catholic, Ecumenical, and Interreligious Perspectives in a Globalizing Era offers a collection of more than forty articles on consecrated life with a special focus on the contemporary times. These studies, offered by experts who live and cherish consecrated life in the Church in its multi-faceted format, are concerned about existential areas such as (1) the inspirational foundations of consecrated life, (2) holiness and wholeness, (3) commitment to the society, (4) ecumenical and interreligious perspectives, and (5) formation for consecration in contemporary times. Essays in this collection aim at
·         Realizing wholeness through the attainment of communion with Jesus Christ and availability to the people
·         Identifying the essentials and the peripheries of consecrated life, especially in the context of India
·         Promoting psycho-spiritual integration in consecrated life
·         Examining commonalities that we share with others who embrace consecrated life in other Churches and other religions
·         Opening up wider horizons to nourish and cherish vocation to consecrated life
·         Exploring new paradigms in formation and mission
Contributors to this volume include Bishop Abraham Mar Julios, Bishop Isaac Mar Philoxenos, Bishop Francis Serrao, Dr. Paul Achandy, Mother Dr. Sibi, Dr. Kees Waaijman, Dr. Franco Imoda, Dr. Theresa Purayidathil, Dr. Ramnath Narayanaswamy, Dr. Thomas Aykara, Dr. Peter Tyler, Dr. Sancta, Dr. Xavier E. Manavath, Dr. Jose Kuriedath, Dr. Paul Parathazham, Dr. Augustine Thottakara, Dr. Shalini Mulackal, Dr. George Edayadiyil, Dr. Joy Kakkanattu, Dr. Dominic Veliath, Sadananda Swamy, Dr. Francis Thonippara, Dr. Mathew Illathuparampil, Dr. Kurian Perumpallikunnel, Sr. Suma Jose, Dr. Mathew Maniampra, Dr. Jose Nandhikkara, Dr. Mayamma Joseph, Ann-Ida Fehn, and Dr. Wilson Chakkyath.

Despite the anonymous processes of globalization, consecrated life does the work of justice and peace, every day, wherever possible. Consecrated life does not wait till all analyses are made and all strategies are fixed. Wherever and whenever consecrated life is dedicated to justice and peace, it becomes the mirror of God’s holiness. They are servants of God’s holiness in this globalizing world, unconditionally, immediately, and completely. Let the right hand not know what the left hand is doing: just do it!” (Kees Waaijman OCarm, “The Centrality of Holiness in Consecrated Life”)
