Kurian
Kachappilly was born on 6 July 1955, at Mallussery, a place in Kerala. He is a
religious priest belonging to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI)[1].
He was ordained a priest on 6 May 1986. His mother tongue is Malayalam. He has
the good command over languages such as English, German, and Hindi. Additionally,
he has working knowledge in languages such as Latin, French, and Dutch. At
present, he is the Provincial of St. Paul CMI Province, Bhopal.[2]
Kurian
Kachappilly CMI is a Professor of Philosophy and Religion[3] at
Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram[4]
and Christ University,[5]
both in Bangalore, India. He is the author of several books, including Mysticism without Bounds[6]
and Mystic Musing in World Religions. He is a philosopher, psychologist and an
author.[7]

and Education
Kurian
Kachappilly studied philosophy at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram.[8] During
1992-1996 he earned a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Leuven, Belgium.[9] He taught English Literature in Guna (MP), served
as Youth Animator in Bangalore Archdiocese,[10] taught
philosophy at Darsana Institute of Philosophy, Wardha,[11] is
teaching philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy at DVK.[12]
He also teaches at Christ University, Bangalore,[13]
and at present he is the Provincial of St Paul Province Bhopal.
Later
Career
Kachappilly
was the chief organizer of the International Process Philosophy Congress in
Bangalore.[14]
About 200 philosophers and intellectuals from Asia, Europe and United States
attended this seventh international conference. Kachappilly, Conference
convenor, told UCA News that Whitehead’s thought has much to offer the modern
world, where religion has become a source of conflict. This conference on “Process,
Religion, Society” examined how Whitehead’s philosophy can bring about peace in
India’s multi-lingual, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society.
