JEFF SHAWN JOSE

Jeff Shawn Jose is a Lecturer in Philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy, Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK), and teaches Contemporary Western Philosophy and Formal Logic. He also holds the position of Associate Director of Dharmaram Journals, Associate Director of Dharmaram Publications, and Associate Director of the Literary and Cultural Academy, DVK.

Jeff Shawn was born on 9 March 1985 to Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Jose as their eldest son. He belongs to the parish of Holy Magi Church, Muvattupuzha. He is a priest from the CMI Congregation who made his first profession on 19 March 2006. He was ordained a priest in the Syro-Malabar Church on 1 January 2015.  

He completed his High School (2002-2004) from Carmel Public School, Vazhakulam, India. His vibrancy in the academic field is evident by the degrees which he received while under formation. He holds a Diploma in Comparative Religions (2007), Bachelor of Philosophy (2006-2008), Licentiate in Philosophy (2009-2011), and Bachelor of Theology (2011-2014) with first rank in all the above degrees, from Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (2010-2013) from the University of Madras.

He has research experience under the supervision of Dr. Saju Chackalackal on the Theme: “Utilitarianism of Call Centers Decoded: A Critique on the Preference Utilitarian View Points among Call Center Employees,” which he undertook while pursuing for his Bachelor of Philosophy. He had another research on the theme “Philosophical Dynamics of Chaos and Complexity Theories” under the supervision  of Dr. Mathew Chandrankunnel. His Bachelor of Theology research paper was on the Theme “National Identity Cards as a Challenge to Human Dignity: A Theological Response,” which was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Geo Pallikunnel.  This was later published as a book titled, National Identity Cards and Human Dignity: A Theological Critique of Aadhaar (Dharmaram Publications).

At present, he also is the Animator of Degree Section, Dharmaram College, Director of Catechism Department, St. Thomas Forane Church, Bengaluru and the Associate Director of Deepika Children’s League (DCL), Bengaluru. He served as a teacher and administrator (2008-09) in St. Mary’s School Patiala, Punjab, and has also served as Associate Parish Priest (February-May 2015), St. Francis Xavier Church, Nellippara in Idukki Diocese.

He has published articles in the area of religion and science in different books as well as journals. He also contributed to Journal of Dharma, a scientific journal from DVK, especially by writing different book reviews. He has attended many seminars and has presented papers in some of the prominent conferences. From 2010, he has been publishing different articles in many blogs and websites such as www.mutiny.in, www.jeffzbuzz.wordpress.com, www.inquirer.in, etc. Almost all the articles he has written are on social issues and critical analysis of current affairs. His articles in www.tecchnomag.com deal with different solutions to technological problems. Some of his articles and reports are written in Malayalam, for example, for “Sunday Shalom,” a Catholic weekly newspaper in Kerala.

Serving as a Lecturer in Philosophy at DVK, the main interest of Jeff Shawn Jose is to be a passionate philosopher and a journalist. He is good in playing cricket and basketball. He is very effervescent and vibrant to do all the duties entrusted to him.
