Thomas Kunianthodath
Thomas Kunianthodath is a professor of philosophy at
Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK), Bengaluru, India. He taught Ancient Western
Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Methodology, etc. At present, he is serving as
a professor of Symbolic Logic and Associate Librarian at DVK.
Birth
and Education
Thomas Kunianthodath was born on 09 May 1942 at
North Parvur, Kerala. He belongs to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), St.
Paul’s Province, Mysore. He made his first profession on 16 May 1962 and was
ordained a priest in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church on 23 April 1958.
Kunianthodath earned several degrees from different
universities in India and abroad. In 1969, he gained a Bachelor in Divinity
from the Gregorian University, Rome. He was awarded a Master of Philosophy from
University of Pune, in 1974. He gained Baccalaureate
in Library Science from the University of Bombay, in 1975, and a postgraduate
degree in the same subject from Dominican University at River Forest, USA.
Later
Career
Thomas Kunianthodath served as a secretary to the
Rector of Dharmaram College in 1970 and from 1975 to 1978. He decorated the
position of Librarian in Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram from 1975 to 1980, 1984 to
1996, 2008 to 2012. Moreover, he was serving as a professor at DVK from 1975-1980,
1984-1996 and continues to teach Symbolic Logic to bachelor and master level
students. He served as a formator of scholastics in Dharmaram College for
several years (1984-1987, 2008-2011). Then, he was designated to the post of Provincial
of St. Paul’s Province, Mysore, from 1987 to 1990 and 1999 to 2002. He was also
designated as the Vicar Provincial of St. Paul’s Province, Mysore, from 1990 to
1993 and from 2005 to 2008. He also served as the Director of Siddivihara,
Mysore, from 1993 to 1996 and served as Spiritual Director in the same
institution from 2005 to 2008. Twice he
rendered his service as Novice Master at St. Chavara Novitiate in Mysore from
1996 to 1999 and 2002 to 2005. At present, apart from his commitments at DVK, he
is also serving as a Spiritual Animator and Librarian in Dharmaram College,
Bengaluru.
